Two Months Old!

Little Benton -
You are growing so fast that Mommy and Daddy can't keep up! There are days when we look at you and can actually tell a difference in the way you are looking from the day before. You are interested in so many things now - you love staring at lights, fans, walls...anything you can get your little eyes on. Mommy tried to get you to watch Baby Einstein a few weeks ago, and she bets that you are ready to watch it now! Here are our two month photos...and I have a disclaimer. I took these at exactly 8 weeks old, so that's why the card says the 8th and not the 13th. Mommy got a little ahead of herself. :)

Sweet boy

And here are some exciting new things that you are doing:

1. Smiling! Each day you smile a bit more, which makes us so happy! You're really happy in the morning; in fact, last Friday morning, you were laughing, cooing, and smiling at Daddy (I think you were just excited he had the day off!). You also love to stick out your tongue at us! :)

2. As I said before, you love to look around. You no longer want to be cradled while we are holding you - you'd much rather we put your head on our shoulders so you can look around You will follow us around the room with your eyes and you know when Mommy or Daddy is in the room (we LOVE that!). We've started reading books in the morning - On the Night You Were Born, Corduroy's Birthday Party, and Peek-a-Boo are the ones we have been looking at this week. We also lay on the Boppy pillow and like to watch TV. :)

3. Swinging! At first, you weren't too crazy about your swing, but now you LOVE it! It's so funny because there is a red button on the side of the swing that you smile at...not too sure what appeal the button has, but you sure seem to like it. You also talk to the little turtles that hang on the mobile of the swing.

4. Tummy Time! Boy, you are becoming a champ at this one. We spend about 10 minutes a day (because that's all you want to do) on the tummy time mat, and you are doing so well! You already can hold your head up while we are holding you, but you are learning quickly how to hold it up while you are lying down.

5. You love bath time and have almost grown out of the infant holder of your tub. It really calms you down to be in the water (maybe a future swimmer on our hands?) and you don't like it when we take you out of the bath!

6. Upgrades! This month has also brought a change-up in what we use on a daily basis. On the pack 'n play, you no longer can fit in the infant bassinet. We set up the mattress part and now you nap on the big boy part of the set. We have started using the monitor now for when you take naps and go to bed. You are such a good baby...you like to put yourself to sleep at night! Mommy will put you down around 9pm, so she and Daddy watch you on the monitor to make sure that are doing okay. We've tried putting you in the crib to go to sleep - this lasted one night. :) You did really well; it was Mommy who decided to put you back in the bassinet. (I think any breastfeeding moms will agree with me on that one - it's the easiest thing to do!)

We have continued to go out and about this month, and you've even taken a few trips! So far, you have been all over Aiken, and you've also traveled to Conyers, GA (to pick up Nana from her vacation at Aunt Mary's), Hilton Head (to go to the beach for a weekend), and to Augusta (shopping time!). You have been very well-behaved at all of these places - good boy! :)

Fun at Hilton Head

You also had to get your 2 month check up and shots. :( Luckily, Grandpa took very good care of you and you only cried for a few minutes after you got the shots (Grandpa left the room for those!)
Hanging out with Daddy before your check up

Can't wait to see what the next month holds for you, our sweet baby!

  1. He is sooo cute! I agree that when you are nursing, it is easier to have them close!! Maggie wasn't in her crib until she was almost 4 months!
